Two very different users

Kali Healthcare is a University of Melbourne spin-out building wearable pregnancy monitoring: a small sensor worn by the mother sends real-time data to an app, and on to a portal where clinicians monitor wellbeing remotely.

The UI had to work for two very different users, expecting parents at home, often first-timers who needed reassurance, and clinicians reviewing many patients at once who needed precision and speed.

Reassurance for parents, density for clinicians

Working alongside DEPT’s product team, PGS designed the full UI across both sides. For parents, reassurance: clean data visualisation, gentle language, a flow closer to a wellness app than a medical device.

For clinicians, density done well, seeing across many patients quickly without the interface becoming a wall of numbers.

Hospital-grade monitoring at home

The result is a unified system across app and portal, ready for commercial launch, bringing hospital-grade monitoring into homes, including remote communities where obstetric care is hard to reach. The platform went on to win a 2025 Webby People’s Voice Award and the national iAwards’ Chief Judge Innovation Award.
